The Board of Directors meets twice per month (except during the months of July and August) and consists of twenty-six (26) Directors managing approximately 115 functions around the region. Typically the Regional District provides municipal type functions to the rural areas. Some functions serve the residents of the region as a whole (e.g. Public Library, 9-1-1,) while other functions serve residents in a specific smaller area (e.g. Grant-in-Aid to the South Green Lake Fire Department, Vavenby Community Water System).
The eleven member municipalities (incorporated communities) within the Regional District boundary send sixteen (16) Directors while the ten electoral areas (unincorporated areas) send ten (10) Directors. Similar to Mayor and Councillors in municipalities, Electoral Area Directors are also elected to their position every four years. The last election was in October 2018.
